1978 Kawasaki Z1R
1978
£14,000
The 1978 Kawasaki Z1R marked a bold step forward in styling and performance for Kawasaki’s superbike range. With its angular lines, factory café racer stance, and signature Metallic Stardust Silver finish, the Z1R quickly set itself apart as a true icon of late-’70s design. Today, original examples are increasingly hard to come by—especially those retaining their factory-correct components. Now offered by TBR Classics, this U.S. import is UK registered and presents as a partially restored example with a rare and desirable number of original factory parts still fitted. These include the original 4-into-1 exhaust system, self-cancelling indicators, and original dash unit—details often lost to time or modification, but still present here and functioning.

Further Description
- History: bought as a small collection from a collector in the Midlands.
- The frame has been repainted and is in fair condition, while the engine runs perfectly, showing some expected wear to the black paint but performing reliably. The bodywork has been repainted previously, though there is a visible dent in the fuel tank, and a repaint could be considered depending on the buyer’s preference. The chrome and trim are original and in very good condition, adding to the overall honest and appealing presentation of the bike. We acquired this Z1R from a collector in the Midlands, as part of a small group of well-kept machines. As it stands, this bike offers an excellent blend of originality and usability, and we may undertake further restoration work should there be no immediate interest—or if requested by the next owner. A fantastic opportunity to secure a Z1R with all the right bones, a strong engine, and a number of hard-to-find original details intact.
